De-Loused and Bedlam.
I never liked the mars volta much, their vocalist gets on my nerves after a while.

Bedlam.
that album is great. The best track is Goliath.
Discipline by King Crimson contains some of the catchiest, most engaging prog I've ever heard. Also, Acquiring the Taste by Gentle Giant is growing on me.

I think those are really underrated Pink Floyd albums. Also you need to check out Dredg's new album, its one of their best so far.

De-Loused and Bedlam.
I never liked the mars volta much, their vocalist gets on my nerves after a while.
Can't blame you. That's the reason a lot of people don't like them.

Plus the ambient noise they used to bloat Frances to no end with nearly killed the experience.

De-Loused is great fun, though. Haven't listened to Amputecture or Bedlam.
pink floyd - animals

queensryche - operation mindcrime

dream theater - scenes from a memory

whats already been said
Pretty much all of Pink Floyd's albums after and including Meddle up to The Wall.

My personal favourite would be Wish You Were Here, though.

No unnecessary noise, and the noise that's there, is for the story.

I'm weird because the only Mars Volta album I really like is Amputechture.
Well since everyone seems to be listing prog metal as well, I would just like to add:

This Godless Endeavor, Enimes Of Reality, Dead Heart In A Dead World, Politics Of Ecstacy, Dreaming Neon Black, and Nevermore, by Nevermore:P
