A few friends and I decided to start making music together and we are having our first practice today.What I was wondering is if anyone else here plays an instrument, and post a pic of it if you want.I've been playing drums for almost 10 years. I play the electric guitar and, I've been playing for around 2 and 1/2 years. Soon, I'll be playing the classical guitar and cello.

it's pretty impressive being able to play 5 different instruments.
I play the violin but I don't enjoy my experience most of the time. Sure, I like to play the violin, but I find my class very boring and the teacher doesn't like me, so I get pretty discouraged at times. I'm not sure that I even want to continue in orchestra.

Yeah, I play:flute, clarinet, alto sax, piccolo, %26 a little bit of piano:)

Windows Movie Maker is the obvious one. I would hardly call it ''good'', but it gets the job done for clip splicing.Whats a good video editing software?

Hearing loss from loud music?

Has anyone experienced or know someone who experienced permanent hearing loss from loud music? I'm worried because I have days where I jam with my friends really loud in someone's basement or go to live shows and my ears ring for 2 days sometimes.Hearing loss from loud music?

Happened to me. Didn't lose my hearing but I hear a high-pitched ringing whenever it is quiet.

I have permament tinnitus (ringing ears) and a 15% hearing loss from my days both in a pub band and also from my time in the miltitary working with firearms and explosives.

I'd recommend investing in a good pair of nickel-plated earplugs, as you can hear eveyrthing crystal clear but reduces percussive damage to your ears. Cos the ringing is friggin irritating.

My dad has hearing loss from working with construction machinery for half his life. I have hereditary hearing loss. I can hear everything fine, and I can hear all frequencies considered normal, but I sometimes have trouble understanding words.

I think it's great, especially if it means that Disney has done some soul-searching as to the quality of their recent attempts in comparison to their old classics.
Disney's animation was great in the 90's because it was ahead of it's time. Now 2D animation has leveled out, so I don't know how this will be.
Just because they're going back to 2D doesn't mean they can't screw this up, but unlike everything else they've been putting out lately, I think I'm going to give this a chance out of sheer nostalgia. :P

I can say that I have NEVER ever seen a Disney animated film in theaters before (Besides Pixar films), but I've always managed to see them when they were released on VHS/DVD. I dunno if I will want to make The Princess and the Frog the first for me yet, but I will definitely watch it at some point when it comes out. And I do think it's great Disney is going back to old roots.

So my girlfriend and I were together last night and she loves to take my phone from me. I've been single the last few months, but one thing I loved about a former girlfriend of mine was her putting little notes in my lunches that I took to work. It was something she did at least a couple of times a week all throughout the duration of our relationship (just short of a year, knew her for a year and a half previous). I made the mistake of taking her for granted, and lost a great girl.

Furthermore, everthing we look at in the sky we are seeing a few years to billions of year ago, but what we see might not be the same in current time.Very cool knowledge. I love astronomy.:)

In NY where I work, you may only have a steering wheel spinner affixed to your steering wheel if and only if you have the restriction listed on your license.



DMV will assign this restriction to you, usually based upon some type of medical condition with written proof from your physician.



Any other time, it would be considered illegal and a ticketable offense. Equipment violations in NY are $30 fine + $30 surcharge, and because it's an added or after-market item, the rules about correcting defective equipment don't apply.

I live in NY also and I cant get a straight answer when it comes to radars detectors either. My cousin uses one and says its fine while other people say there illegal.
I can see the reason why they might be illegal. I run Heavy Equiptment, They help in a machine like a Front End Loader since you need a hand to control the bucket. The problems would be your hand slipping off it, that happens a lot to me when I'm working. I'm also not doing 100 km/h around a corner though. So the risk is'nt that big.I don't know if I'd want one in my car, that might be asking for trouble.

I recently found myself in a huge nerd debate at work as to where the line should be drawn between 'online' games and 'massively multiplayer online' games (MMOs). Talk of 'pseudo-MMOs' was viewed by both parties as a copout and thus avoided.
Due to a shortage of specific and/or credible definitions on the internet, my opponent and I resorted to observations, statistical generalizations and Wikipedia for just about everything in an effort to define 'MMO'. At the end of the day, there was no consensus and we were advised by coworkers that it was an issue best left to good old fashioned internet polling.
I'm not disclosing who held which position, but here they are. Obviously, there are exceptions to everything you're about to read so finding 1 counterexample is not difficult. Basically, how do YOU (or well-explained websites) define an MMO and why?

Position #1:  
The label 'MMO' should only be applied when a game possesses most of the common characteristics found in the genre's dominant titles. Examples of such characteristics include immense world ****, a lengthy leveling process, in-game economy, player clases %26 professions, endgame objectives, industrial server hosting by the developer, monthly fee, %26 paid admins. Regular online FPS or RTS games that track player statistics and achievements are simply borrowing elements from RPGs, not MMOs.
''The 'Massive' in MMO comes not only from their incredible population on each server, but also from the near limitless socialization, objectives, and useful rewards they offer players – which contributes years to the games lifespan. A game is only as 'massive' as it's largest and most complex server.''


Position #2:
An MMO is characterized not by how many players can interact at once in the same environment, but rather that the game has a large concurrent online playerbase - no matter how many servers they are spread across, or their individual capacity (32,64).  Examples of such MMOs are Starcraft %26 Counter-Strike. No matter how small the minority, if a few people describe a game as having a 'Massive' player population, its an MMO – regardless of their experience with the genre. Additionally, the achievement systems in these games are equivalent to accumulated weapons %26 gear found in games such as WoW.

A single server is only as 'Massive' as it's contribution to that overall sum of players. I just bought a new MacBook for college. It's awesome. I still use a desktop PC for other stuff, but I love my Mac because it's fast and easy to use.

The system of the electoral college is likewise unfair. Let's face it, if a state splits 51-49 (which is not uncommon), then 49% of the people in that state were effectively ignored. Their votes did not matter.

Larger states are neglected during the elections. I'm not going to deny that, but the needs of the larger states are never neglected when it comes to determining policy. To do so would be idiotic. The same is not true, however for smaller states. The electoral college is one of the only features in the American form of government that guarantees that the needs of the smaller states are at least considered. At it's most basic form, the electoral college serves as a check on populism (not that populism is a bad thing necessarily, but it is not unreasonable for there to be a check on it).

I see what you mean, traveling to the past would only be achieved by traveling to another dimension.
i don't think reverse time travel is possible. look at traveling to the past from a present perspective. going back in time would deconstruct the time machine and that's the end of that. you would simply go back in time to a point before you had started to travel, and be sitting in the machine. it couldn't go any further because the machine would take itself apart. this is assuming the machine you've created is effected by time, and if anyone could make a machine that wasn't effected by time i would be impressed. besides, if we went back in time, we wouldn't be able to help changing history, which would probably erase how the world is today, and preventing our existence.

as for traveling forward, i think you've got that one. surely, you would age in the machine and die in it from starvation in the amount of time it takes you to travel forward a week or so.

You cannot travel to something that doesn't exist, but if it did exist, than how would you get there. And if you could get there, if you changed it would the future cease to exist and would you going there at all ever happen. Time travel is so far beyond us. All it is, is many theories and assumptions based on the way we perceive our universe. Only when we fully understand the inner workings of space and time will we be able to understand the complexity of time travel.

You talk about the future ceasing to exist, yes the version that we know would but a alternative future would take its place. The future would change because of what happened or what was altered in the past, this is very complex to think about but it does make sense.

When you travel forward in time (which is not only possible, but something that astronauts have already done), time appears to pass normally for yourself. While outsiders age more quickly, though their experience is that time is passing normally as well.

There is a option on the File menu that says ''Transfer purchases from...''. You have to authorize your computer for those purchases

The the poster's songs are either on CDs, on his old computer , or need to be re downloaded using a person's p2p program or bit torrent. I buy some of mine and the songs from other sources are backed up. I think there is other ways to get songs off of ipods This link shows one way

omg I cant stand Apple's tech support. They either keep you on hold til you fall asleep and accidentally hang up, then you call back and they pretend they've never heard of you, or they transfer you to their call center in Guam. Its not even called Apple there, its Mango! =P
You have two options:- Hook up the ipod but do NOT open itunes. Make sure you can view hidden files and folders. Go to ''My Computer'' and access your ipod. You should be able to pull off the music that way. The downside is that all the file titles are just random sequences of four letters (like RBDF.mp3 and WEGH.mp3) so if you use this method you'll have to painstakingly go through your whole collection and rename every file. On the brightside itunes can still decode them so if you don't listen to your music outside of itunes/ipod this won't be a problem at all.- Download one of the many ipod transfer programs available on the internet and use it to pull your songs off.
Consolidate your music collection. Go to iTunes and consolidate your library. This will take all of your ''stuff'' and copy it into a folder of your choosing. When iTunes is done copying it to the folder. Take that folder and copy it on a flash drive, external hard drive, etc. Then transfer to iTunes iPod transfer programs are the easiest and simplest way in my opinion though.

I remember a long time ago... I forget who, the leader of the Headcrab Union telling GameSpot what to do to make unions better. Alot of the unions I was apart of were waiting for this to happen sadly they are now all dead and nothing has happened.
It was just a suggestion. Despite being very well thought out, I don't believe Gamespot ever had any intention of implementing the ideas into the current union system, though I could be wrong.

See my mass amount of time on here and posting with others has greatly helped me to see things for what they really are, not just as they seem to be. From every post I make and every post someone makes that I read, I learn more and more about their way of life as well as the human race over all

Yea I'm not arguing that though.
Initially, it seemed that Gamespot was looking into switching to Unions V2, but after a few months the leader of the HCU wasn't getting much response or support from the Gamespot staff... so the project basically came to a dead halt and Sentinielrv moved his union off Gamespot.
