LOL do it rough than. Serious career help (Nursing)
First off, censor all of the word if you're going to censor it.
Also, I'm pretty sure you have to go to some kind of two year college to become a nurse, so I figure at some point, you'll figure it out.
But I'm better you will have to do that kind of stuff, and replacing and cleaning bed pans.
Inserting catheters are a very standard practice for nurses.
Yes, as a nurse you will have to be able to insert a Foley catheter. If you're squeemish about blood, urine, feces, or vomit, don't become a nurse.
Be a doctor not a nurse. The nurse does 90% of the work and the doctor just walks in at the last 5 min does a few things then says ok bye. The doctors have the easy jobs the nurses have to do the crappy stuff the doctor doesn't feel like doing.

lol, that's your worst fear of becoming a nurse? So the vomiting, blood, broken bones, etc. do nothing for you?!? But yes, I would imagine that insterting a catheter into a male patient would fall under the job description of being a nurse.
Thanks for the reply guys, ill tough it out.

Lol, the very thought, the very idea of sticking it in makes me squeamish, the blood and such, not so much :\

They have the uneviable task of actually figuring out what's going on with the patient, and they're ultimately responsible for anything that goes wrong. The nurse just follows orders. And to the OP, I've put in plenty of Foley catheters. It's really not that bad once you get the hang of it.Always check tomake sure the balloon inflates, grease it up, slide it in until you see urine, and inflate the balloon. If the patient has an enlarged prostate is can be difficult, but otherwise it's not that hard.

Those are so disgusting most nurses won't even do them. Pelvic exams are equally disgusting in many cases. Some women have STDs or just don't clean themselves properly.Doctors have to do plenty of equally disgusting stuff. And some of it is much harder than anything a nurse would ever have to do. Putting in a central line would be a good example.

It is like pluging a RAM in computer, but on human body. If you have all those hesitations and wried feelings, it is not really suitable for you.

Now that you put it that way it sounds better.
The three keys to being a successful nurse are...be nice, gentle, and cute.

By the time you're licensed, you won't see the male anatomy, you'll simply see a patient who needs cared for. :)*edit~ I just noticed this was my 5,000 post. It only took me a little over 5 years. At that rate, I can't wait until 2014 to have my 10,000th post party in OT! :P
